Masks are commonly used by field workers, such as a fumigator, who apply hazardous chemicals to kill insects or insecticides. The mask used must be clean, fit properly when put on the face, and also the filter that is in the canister must be clean.
Regarding the use of masks with air purifying (air-purifying respirators), the selection of filters or cartridges / canisters must be chosen correctly. If the use of a filter or cartridge / canister is not suitable for the type of exposure, the consequences can be fatal to the worker. There are special canisters available for fumigation mask.
